From Santa to Snowflakes, to Sanctity
The Nativity Scene was still the best part of the show. I think I can count at least 35 to 40 years of taking in the Christmas Spectacular. Although in past years I've critiqued the jazzy Joy to the World, I found myself taping my foot this year -- perhaps it's growing on me. The added snowflake review was outstanding and surprising as well. All in all, it was another grand performance. I enjoyed the overture that included an actual Christmas Carol or two in passing. The one negative was the hoards of folks coming in late owing to the security concerns. Perhaps folks should be warned when getting their tickets that they must arrive 45 minutes earlier than Showtime. May you good people continue this wonderful tradition and have a very Merry Christmas.
Best Concert Show I Have Ever Been To
After driving about 3 and a half hours to get to the show, I can say it was definitely worth the journey! The very first concert everyone remembers. In 1991, my first concert was the group Styx's Edge Of The Century tour, which I will always remember as the best concert experience because it was my first live show. At that time, it was just the band performing their songs with a few lights on stage. Mannheim Steamroller's show took me back to that first concert feeling, it was truly incredible! The production value for this show is outstanding, a feast for both the ears and eyes. The show features lighting effects, lasers, acrobatics, dancing, props, video displays, and colorful costumes that Mannheim Steamroller changes into 9 times during the performance! Ms. Perry sounds absolutely incredible live, even better than recorded. Mannheim Steamroller doesn't just deliver a concert, they put on a full-blown show. Some may argue that the visuals and costumes distract from the music, preferring a simpler stage setup with just the performers. However, a great concert, in my opinion, combines showmanship with music to create a truly memorable experience, which is exactly what Mannheim Steamroller achieved. The opener for the show was Kacey Musgraves, followed by Ferras, whom we unfortunately missed. Kacey put on a solid opening performance, although I'm not a huge fan of country music, so I can't compare her to other country stars. Mannheim Steamroller's show is suitable for children as well, as it is family-friendly with no explicit content. However, there are some adult references that kids may not understand. The show is also quite loud, typical of most concerts, so be prepared for that. Mannheim Steamroller interacts with the audience in a very personal way, allowing some fans to take selfies with her and giving high fives to those near the stage. She even invites guests on stage during the performance, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere. The show kicks off with high-energy songs like Roar, followed by some acoustic numbers in the middle, including Unconditionally and By the Grace of God, which are truly remarkable. There is one more encore after the Birthday song, featuring Firework with spectacular lighting effects and fireworks that require special glasses. The stage is set in a large triangular shape, providing a great view of Mannheim Steamroller from most parts of the arena. Lower level seats offer the best views, although upper level seats also provide a good vantage point. Personally, I prefer not to have floor seats as standing attendees or tall individuals in front can obstruct the view. To have a chance to join Mannheim Steamroller on stage, wear your craziest outfit and get ready for a memorable experience!
Music great first row sucked
Imagine my surprise when the concert turned out to be a terrific performance by Mannheim Steamroller, with my tix being front row, great to sit in the front, and lead on band great. Too bad that after 15 min, all I saw were the behinds and backs of concert goers who decided they needed to be front row. The security boss called off his staff except for one token person to hold down the fort, and he was basically told to do 'nothing' from my perspective -- so much for paying $$ for a tix, why bother. Since there was no crowd control and no roped off area that allowed first row to have at least some feet room, eventually even standing did not allow me to see anything but backs. I did stand and stayed until I got crowded out, then I walked out angry probably 30 minutes into the main event. The only event staff I saw [2 at the exit gate] know exactly why I was history. I let them know. The wheelchair-bound patron to my left did not have the option to stand; I have no idea how long he tolerated the scenario. The couple on my right had already moved elsewhere; it was her birthday. Those who moved to the stage were not rude necessarily; they were just taking advantage of their opportunity. But they cared less that they had paid for cheap seats and were blocking anyone who had paid more. Poor decision on behalf of the CCS event staff in my opinion or perhaps it was a main event decision.
